“Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force.
Like fire, it is a dangerous servant, and a fearful master” – George Washington (maybe)
Waffle
With wavy laze and chipsy gaze they made it underground
For amore wrote a story recorded into sound
Hand me the hashish and I’ll tell you about a gal
Who wrote about a friend’s best friend’s best neighbor’s son’s best pal
Who bakes the eggshells in the skillet
Leaves the booze in the rain to fill it
When she’s finished ironing dinner
She opens up the door for the animals to enter and screams
Stay away from my falafel – that’s a waffle.
Is standing on this sofa lawful? That’d be awful.
That’s a waffle. That’s awful.

Pape o’ Towl
It’s different where I come from
You say I live in Towl but haha, no
For Towls live in only Ginks and Quings
But Gonks and Winks live in Towl, and I as well.
And I would have been Gonk were it not for the fact that my fate met faith
And I became a regional Pape
Hence, how do you do? I’m the Pape o’ Towl

Lyra
Little Lyra took her doll and put it in a bag
And left her home without a word as though she had gone mad
She walked and walked from here to there
And back to there from here
And tried to talk to everyone about her state of fear
And though the towners empathized
They couldn’t comprehend
For when our Little Lyra looked
Their faces would warp and bend
Suddenly awakened, Lyra found herself in bed
She yanked the blanked off of her
And rubbed her aching head
She looked around the unfamiliar room of a motel
And out the window of a part of town that she did not know well
When her eyes were acclimated to the dim-lit room
She saw the man asleep in bed
And had a shock of doom.
Little Lyra tried and tried to recall what had happened
And then she realized that her panties were dampened
Horrible terror and terribly horrific thoughts filled her mind
That maybe she had been the victim of some sort of crime
She clothed herself and left and walked and walked from here to there
Until she founds the sheriff who took Lyra in with care
After testifying that the man had drugged and raped her
She went online to try to find out memories that had escaped her
She typed her name and hit ok to do a web-wide search
The link that showed up at the top induced her to a lurch
She clicked and watched, aghast, dismayed
As a video of her last night was played
Of our little girl Lyra, sneaking out of her house
Wish a bag of psychedelics tucked into her blouse
Seducing a man whom she met at a bar
Feeding him drugs and having sex in a car
And then dragging him to a strange part of the town
To some motel so they could properly get down
And Little Lyra, Little lusty Lyra on LSD
Thought it’d be hot to stream it live for all her pervs to see
Because though she had a day off from work and that’s how she makes her dough
This time Lyra blacked out on drugs and raped a man she didn’t know
Now the sheriff’s coming he’s got handcuffs and a gun
And little Lyra thinks and tries to remember if she’d at least had fun.
Had It
I’m leaving town ’cause it can’t be this way
I’m heading out and I don’t want to stay
Down and around and about
I’m leaving town and I don’t want to stay
They’re playing games I don’t want to play
Humanimals
Human nature is something we define to be
Good and bad and slightly unaligned and we
Have a pretty good idea so we
Say that we are somehow mightier and all agree
One can’t deny the fact that we
Can’t tell this to our pets (try as we might)
They just can’t think at our level
Beavers build bridges but not the cars to cross them
But without our common ancestry
Also that we’re all living
Maybe we can keep in mind
We all come and go in kind

Why, why am I wide awake, wide awake
By the way, I might fly away, while I wait, wide awake
Pasture Green
I rest my bones on Pasture Green
The wind blows warm and sweet
Look o’er the Valley, dark and deep
And it leaves me here in peace
The well was dry, the mine they shut
Lord my time has come
I ‘fessed my woes to Pastor Bean
And left my dogs run free
